VS Code, Cursor and other MCP clients

GatherEasy works with any MCP client that supports remote servers over Streamable HTTP with OAuth sign-in. The server address is:

https://gathereasy.rsvp/api/mcp

Create or open .vscode/mcp.json in your workspace, or run MCP: Open User Configuration from the Command Palette to add it for every workspace, and add:

{
"servers": {
"gathereasy": {
"type": "http",
"url": "https://gathereasy.rsvp/api/mcp"
}
}
}

Choose Start above the server entry. VS Code asks to sign in to GatherEasy. Allow it, sign in in the browser and choose Allow access. Then use GatherEasy from Copilot Chat in Agent mode.

You can also run MCP: Add Server from the Command Palette, choose HTTP and paste the URL.

To sign in, the client must support MCP’s standard OAuth flow:

  • dynamic client registration, so it registers itself with GatherEasy without a client ID or secret,
  • PKCE (S256),
  • resource indicators.

To show GatherEasy’s interactive panel, it also needs the MCP Apps extension. Clients without it get the same results as text.

Without sign-in support, a client can still use public discovery, such as searching events and venues, but nothing that needs your account.

If your client can only start local (stdio) MCP servers, use the open-source mcp-remote bridge, which handles the browser sign-in for you. You need Node.js installed:

{
"mcpServers": {
"gathereasy": {
"command": "npx",
"args": ["-y", "mcp-remote", "https://gathereasy.rsvp/api/mcp"]
}
}
}

Besides tools, GatherEasy offers:

  • Prompts: ready-made starting points. See Ready-made prompts.
  • Resources your client can attach to a conversation: gathereasy://events/{event_id}, gathereasy://events/{event_id}/calendar.ics, gathereasy://venues/{venue_id} and gathereasy://groups/{group_id}. Event, group and venue IDs autocomplete from your own events and groups first.
