## Accounts

**Is GatherEasy free?**
Yes. It's free to join, browse, register for free events and host. Paid tickets cost what the host charges, and hosts pay Stripe's processing fees. GatherEasy currently charges 0% platform commission. Some extras, such as custom event URLs and tax collection, are part of GatherEasy Plus.

**Do I need a password?**
No. You sign in with a code we email you, or with Google or Apple. See [Sign in](https://help.gathereasy.rsvp/getting-started/sign-in.md).

**Is there an app?**
GatherEasy is a web app you can install on your home screen. See [Install the app](https://help.gathereasy.rsvp/getting-started/install-the-app.md).

**How do I change the language?**
**Account settings → Preferences → Language**.

## Attending

**Can I buy tickets for a friend?**
Each person registers with their own account and holds one ticket. Share the event link with your friend.

**Where's my ticket?**
On the event page: choose **View ticket**. See [Your ticket and check-in](https://help.gathereasy.rsvp/attending/tickets-and-payment.md#your-ticket-and-check-in).

**Can I transfer my ticket?**
No. Cancel your registration and let the other person register.

**How do refunds work?**
When you cancel a paid ticket, the host reviews your refund request. If the host cancels the event or removes you, you're refunded in full. See [Cancel a registration and refunds](https://help.gathereasy.rsvp/attending/cancel-and-refunds.md).

**Why can't I register?**
The event may be invite-only, full without a waitlist, cancelled or already over. The registration box on the event page says which.

**An event says "Listed on" another site. How do I go?**
It's listed from elsewhere. Register on the original site with **View on**, and mark it **Interested** to keep it in your plans.

## Hosting

**Can I host without a group?**
Yes. Choose **Personal** when you create the event.

**Why can't I create a paid event?**
The group that runs the event needs a connected Stripe account. See [Sell tickets](https://help.gathereasy.rsvp/hosting/sell-tickets.md).

**When do I get paid?**
Stripe pays out daily on its automatic schedule, after its usual delay for your country. Keep enough in your Stripe balance for refunds.

**Can someone help me run the door?**
Add them as check-in staff. See [Co-hosts and staff](https://help.gathereasy.rsvp/hosting/co-hosts-and-staff.md).

**Do I need a scanner?**
No. Any phone with a camera works. See [Check guests in](https://help.gathereasy.rsvp/hosting/check-in.md).

**Can I delete an event?**
Cancel it. Events without paid orders are deleted. Events with paid orders are kept for refunds and records.

## Social

**How do I add a friend?**
Follow each other. There are no friend requests. See [Profiles, following and friends](https://help.gathereasy.rsvp/social/friends-and-profiles.md).

**Can I stop getting chat notifications?**
Mute one chat, or turn off **Chat messages** in [Notifications](https://help.gathereasy.rsvp/account/notifications.md).

## AI assistants

**Which assistants work with GatherEasy?**
Claude, ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot in VS Code, Cursor and any other client that supports remote MCP servers with OAuth. See [Overview](https://help.gathereasy.rsvp/ai-assistants/overview.md).

**Is it safe?**
You approve exactly what an assistant can do, assistants never handle payments, and you can disconnect at any time. See [Sign-in and permissions](https://help.gathereasy.rsvp/ai-assistants/permissions.md).

Gabby, the assistant built into GatherEasy, is coming soon. Until then, connect the assistant you already use.
