# Send announcements to guests

> Message everyone going, pending, waitlisted or invited, by email and notification.

Use announcements for anything your guests need to know: a room change, what to bring, a reminder about the time, or a thank-you afterwards.

## Send an announcement

1. Open your event's management page and choose the **Announcements** tab.
2. Under **Send to**, choose who should get it: **Going**, **Pending**, **Waitlist** and/or **Invited**.
3. Under **Reply to**, choose which hosts' email addresses replies go to. These addresses are visible to recipients.
4. Optionally add a **Subject**.
5. Write your **Message**.
6. Choose **Send announcement**.

The **Sender** shows as your name "via GatherEasy". Guests get the announcement as an email and as an in-app notification, which is also pushed to their devices if they've turned on push notifications.

Sent announcements are listed under **Sent Announcements**, with who they went to.

## Tips

- Announcements reach people straight away, so check the text before you send.
- Guests are notified automatically when you **edit** a published event's details or **cancel** it. You don't need to announce those changes separately.
- GatherEasy also sends guests an automatic reminder about 24 hours before the event starts.
- To message everyone in a group, not just one event's guests, you can use an AI assistant connected to GatherEasy. See [What you can do with an assistant](https://help.gathereasy.rsvp/ai-assistants/what-you-can-do.md).

## Event chat

Every event also has a chat that guests can join once they're on the guest list. It's better than announcements for conversation and quick questions. Open it from the event page with **Open event chat**. As a host you can remove messages in your event's chat. See [Chats](https://help.gathereasy.rsvp/social/chats.md).
